· In 1981, Andrei, his parents, and his brother left the Soviet Union.

· Andrei was six and Dima was 16.

· Andrei became an American, and Dima remained essentially Russian.

· Dima returned to Moscow after the Soviet Union collapsed.

· One day he asked Andrei to stay with Baba Seva while he went to London.
