The Tempest.

Read Shakespeare's The Tempest and present a report to the class comparing it to the play to A Tempest.

Essay

Ask the students to read Cesaire's essay "Discourse on Colonialism" and explain how the messages present in that essay are apparent in his play.

In-depth Biography

Prepare a detailed biography on the life and career of Cesaire. The information should be presented in a four page paper or ten minute report to the class.

Interview

Write a list of interview questions for Cesaire. Have one person play the journalist and the other Cesaire. Have the students present their interview to the class.

Interpretation of the play

Find video clips of the stage presentation of A Tempest. The video clips may be found via Youtube or other online search engines. Ask the students to discuss whether the video is how they imagined the play being presented.
