Boxer Rebellion: The Boxers (a term describing a group of Chinese nationalists who called themselves Righteous and Harmonious Fists) were intent on ridding their country of foreign influences. When they began a violent campaign against foreigners, U.S. marines were sent in to fight alongside troops from other Western nations. The Boxers were overcome in August 1900.
