Scarlet Fever.

Research Accelerates.

Although research into the diseases of typhoid and diphtheria had proved fruitful, little was known about scarlet fever despite the great amount of work that was being done in that area. In order to remedy this situation, the John McCormick Institute for Contagious Diseases was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCormick of Chicago in honor of the son they lost to scarlet fever. The Dicks went to work trying to identify the scarlet fever microbe.
