The film begins with the narrator's long monologue as we watch events play out. He first talks about three men who were hanged for murdering Sir Edmund William Godfrey as they robbed him. Godfrey lived in Greenberry Hill, London, and the men who killed him were named Joseph Green, Stanley Berry, and Daniel Hill. Green- Berry- Hill. The narrator hopes this was just a matter of chance.

The narrator then tells about a forest fire reported by the Reno Gazette in June, 1938. A firefighting plane accidentally pulled scuba diver Delmer Darion out of the lake as it scooped up water to dump on the fire. Between the lake and the tree, Darion died of a heart attack. The next day, pilot Craig Hansen, overcome with guilt, committed suicide. Hansen had met Darion just a couple of nights before. Once again, the narrator hopes this...
