Brief Summary of the Fall of the Roman Empire

Summary: The Roman Empire fell because of many different reasons that can be placed into four categories: political, economic, military, and changes in Roman citizens.
The Roman Empire fell because of many different reasons that all acted on each other. These reasons can be split up into four categories: political reasons, economic reasons, military reasons, and changes in Roman citizens.

A political reason that contributed to the empires fall was the lack of organization in the Roman government. The Roman government was made for a small city state. Not for a huge empire. After the empire had grown a lot, this type of government was not sufficient. Another political problem for the late Roman Empire was that sometimes the emperor didn't control the military properly. Generals sometimes assassinated the emperor for their own gain. This led to chaos.

The Romans had to pay very high taxes because government expenses were too high. Even these higher taxes weren't enough to pay for road maintenance and to keep the empire safe. This made travel dangerous...
