P:  Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope.  For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved.  Our Lord!  Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark!  Our Lord!  Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us!  Our Lord!  Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear!  Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.

S:  Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability; for it is (the benefit of) what it has earned and upon it (the evil of) what it has wrought:  Our Lord! do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake; Our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us, Our Lord do not impose upon us that which we have not the strength to bear; and pardon us and grant us protection and have mercy on us, Thou art our Patron, so help us against the unbelieving people.

Al-E-Imran (the family of ’Imran, the house of ’Imran)

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

003.001 Y:  A. L. M.

P:  Alim.  Lam.  Mim.

S:  Alif Lam Mim.

003.002 Y:  Allah!  There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal.

P:  Allah!  There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal.

S:  Allah, (there is) no god but He, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all things subsist.

003.003 Y:  It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).

P:  He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.

S:  He has revealed to you the Book with truth, verifying that which is before it, and He revealed the Tavrat and the Injeel aforetime, a guidance for the people, and He sent the Furqan.

003.004 Y:  Then those who reject Faith in the Signs of Allah will suffer the severest penalty, and Allah is Exalted in Might, Lord of Retribution.

P:  Aforetime, for a guidance to mankind; and hath revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong).  Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, theirs will be a heavy doom.  Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong).

S:  Surely they who disbelieve in the communications of Allah they shall have a severe chastisement; and Allah is Mighty, the Lord of retribution.
