“The Weary Blues” is a blues and jazz-influenced poem by American poet Langston Hughes. It was first published in 1925 in a now-defunct literary magazine, then shortly after in his first collection of the same name. The poem describes an encounter in which the speaker hears a Black musician playing the blues, and reflects on the power of tragic art.
