The Christie Affair Overview

In Nina de Gramont's novel The Christie Affair, first person narrator Nina O'Dea is determined to break apart Archie and Agatha Christie's marriage. When Archie tells his wife he wants a divorce, Agatha disappears, inciting a nationwide police search. To escape the drama, Nan hides out at the Bellefort Hotel, where she is shocked to reunite with her former lover, Finbarr. Throughout the novel, as Nan wrestles with the decision to return to Finbarr or remain loyal to Archie, an accumulating number of mysteries and crimes surface on the page. Nan realizes that her story is not entirely her own, and works to seize control of her life. The novel explores themes including love, loss, and freedom.
