Away, by Michael Gow, is set in Australia as the year 1967 becomes the year 1968. The play follows three families through the beginning, middle, and end of their Christmas vacation. When various plans are disrupted by various shifts in circumstances, the characters are confronted with truths about themselves, about each other, and about the power of nature. The play also explores themes related to the reaching for connection, endings and beginnings, and the experience of being strangers in a strange land.
