Summary

Isaiah makes it back to the other mice in Chapter 21. They are at the table and James the Wise praises Isaiah for his bravery which has provided the food they are eating. James the Wise says that they will sing Isaiah’s praises from now on. The mice toast to him calling him Isaiah the Brave. Later, Isaiah talks to Mikayla and tells her that he got her the dessert that she enjoyed the night before. She tells him that he is sweet, but mentions that he only heard her sing because she did not know he was there. Girl mice do not sing. They are supposed to be house mice, which Mikayla dislikes but accepts as the way it is. She sums up her situation by saying that “Being different isn’t a good thing” (102).
