Prue McKeel

Twelve-year-old Prue is the protagonist of the novel. She is determined to rescue her brother from the crows that kidnapped him. She loves to draw, particularly botanical subjects, as well as birds. She takes care of her baby brother, Mac, and knows that he is very special to her parents. Prue has a sarcastic streak of humor and is willing to step outside the boundaries of acceptable or obedient behavior, from keeping library books she loves way beyond their loan period or not telling her parents about her brother's abduction by crows. Even though she has not remained close friends with Curtis, the two classmates once shared a passion for art.
