Travis and Nora decided instead of staying on the run, they should make a stand and allow The Outsider to come to them in a place where they could get the better of it. Thanks to Garrison for forwarding money to them as well as a large sum for the sale of Violet Devon's house, they were able to buy a large house in a remote area outside Carmel. Travis has set several traps for The Outsider, including tanks of laughing gas in the garage, motion detectors around the house, and steel shutters on the windows.
