London is the capital and most populous city of the United Kingdom. Nathaniel lived in London as a child and a teenager. In 1945, Nathaniel’s parents left the country, and he and Rachel were left in the care of Walter—nickname The Moth—who was a friend of Nathaniel’s mother. As a teenager, Nathaniel had a large degree of freedom under The Moth’s care. As an adult, Walter moved to Suffolk but commuted to London each day for work.
