Summary

In Chapter 22, Melissa ran after the person in the woods, but fell, breaking her flashlight and losing her phone. When she got up, she discovered that she had cut her leg. She could see the light from Ryan’s cabin and walked toward it. Because Melissa thought she could trust Ryan, she told him her suspicions about the children. Ryan assured Melissa that if one of her children had hurt Patrick, they had a good reason.

Ryan also told her that she had done the right thing by protecting her children based on how little time she had to consider what to do.
