Turambar has now lived with the woodsmen for three years. Other than the occasional band of orcs, this time is passed in peace. He is settling into his new marriage with Niniel, and they are expecting their first child together. Just as Truambar thinks all is well, news comes to the village that Glaurung is on the move.
