Summary

Chapter 40

Climbing down the iron ladders, Deeba aims for Wraithtown to see whether Unstible is listed among a list of the dead. On her way there, though, she hears screams and happens upon a carnivorous giraffe feasting loudly on its prey.

Chapter 41

Deeba makes a noise that attracts the giraffe’s attention, and it chases her right up to the point where she crosses into Wraithtown. Now she has the giraffe on one side and ghosts on the other.

Chapter 42

Deeba yells at the ghosts to leave her alone, and she can see them talking to her, but she cannot hear them. Hemi arrives, and tells her that he has been on her side all along, and wanted to protect the Schwazzy. She tells him that she needs his help, and when she explains why, he agrees to help her.
