Chapter 14 Summary

That night, Stephanie sneaks into the house, to avoid explanations about her disheveled appearance. Once again, the next morning, she is in line for the bathroom. Downstairs, she discovers Morelli eating breakfast. He asks for his clothes, sparking questions from her mother and grandmother.

After an overly hearty breakfast, prepared by her mother, Stephanie takes Grandma Mazur on a day of surveillance. As they sit in the Buick, watching Stiva's, they are rammed by Kenny in a suburban. Grandma takes a shot at the suburban and encourages Stephanie to pursue Kenny, but he gets away. In the process, Morelli's car is smashed. The Buick suffers only a scratch.

At home, Grandma lies about the injury she received from the kickback of the gun. Morelli appears to inquire about the accident, assuming Stephanie was involved. He also tells her that Sandeman's body surfaced in the river the night before, missing one...
