Chapter 5 Summary

Stephanie confesses that she is suspicious of Sandeman, also known as the Sandman. After her own investigation, along with the info about him from Morelli and Ranger, Stephanie thinks he is involved and up to no good.

Stopping by the bond office, Stephanie finds a harried Connie, the office manager. Due to sexual harassment on Vinnie's part, the newest file clerk quit. Stephanie calls a friend at the DMV to obtain Sandeman's address and leaves to visit his apartment.

At Sandman's apartment, a neighbor mistakes her for a cop. To set him straight, she leaves her business card, ask for information on Sandman, but gains nothing. She peeps at the apartment from the fire escape, but learns little about Sandeman and nothing about his possible involvement in Kenny's case.

Back at home, Stephanie fixes herself up and takes a call from her mother...
