The Need for Adventure

The need for adventure is the key theme with regard to the hero, Dirk Pitt, and is second in this novel only the quest for power. When it comes to Dirk, he simply must be involved in the next exciting event. As he is searching for the downed Russian Submarine, Dirk is all business and is completely focused on the task. It's his best friend Giordino who notes that Dirk loses interest in the project the moment he locates the submarine.
