The BookWorld

The BookWorld is similar to outer space. It is a great void of space where books float like planets, linked together with similar types of books in genres. Access to the BookWorld by real people was made possible by Thursday's uncle Mycroft who invented the Prose Portal. Travel between books is possible by reading specific passages that transport you into the BookWorld. The BookWorld is governed by a legislature called the Council of Genres. Thursday is the only outlander on the Council because she has a greater capacity for original thought and reason than the characters that inhabit the book world. There is also a policing force, called Jurisfiction that handles crimes within the BookWorld. Thursday is also an agent of Jurisfiction.
