Summary

Chapter Three shifts to Mia’s narration as they arrive at a cottage in an empty town. Mia is furious with Sam for treating Lucas like a wild animal, and rushes inside the second she gets the chance. As she constantly finds more complicated words to describe the terrible decor, she sees Lucas blank-faced wrapped in blankets. She imagines herself as a princess coming to break his curse, but is thrown when she tries to hug him. Mia locks herself in a bedroom and blames Sam for everything. Sam explains what the trainers did to Lucas, but Mia does not want to feel sorry for Sam and screams at her for not trying hard enough. Sam begs Mia to help, thinking she is the one who can reach Lucas. Mia silently disagrees, as Lucas has always...
