The Chalk

The Chalk is the name of the area of land containing the farmland, hills and village which are Tiffany's home. The land has been in the family for generations, officially belonging to the Baron but in every other sense belonging to the Aching family.

It is an unusual type of land, according to the witches, to produce another witch, because of how fragile and unstable chalk is, but it is also the site of generations of history which in itself lends the land significance.

The Home Farm

The Home Farm is where Tiffany lives and has grown up, and the only home which Tiffany has ever known. The Aching family lives and works on the farm, earning a modest but sufficient living. It is a busy place with trade, which means that Tiffany is left to her own devices much of the time.
