Chapters 37-40 Summary

In Chapter Thirty-Seven, as Mars moves to attack Prometheus, Niten stops him. This leads to a fight between Mars and Niten. Tsagaglalal finally gets in the middle of it and stops them, telling them to stop misbehaving. She sends them inside for tea.

In Chapter Thirty-Eight, Perenelle explains to Nicholas what he has missed. Perenelle places the scarab beetle around his neck. When Nicholas asks why she gave him part of her aura, she says she did it for selfish reasons, she "did not want to live a day without" him. (p. 249). Nicholas wonders at the silence downstairs. Prenelle responds that they are all afraid of Tsagaglalal because they know what she is.
