Olive Torres

Olive is a woman in her early thirties and the protagonist of the book. The entire book is written from her perspective with the exception of the epilogue.

Olive has lived her life in comparison to her twin sister, Ami Torres, and sees herself as the unlucky twin. She consistently finds herself in odd and unfortunate situations and blames her bad luck for their occurrence. It is not until she is one of two people at her sister Ami's wedding that doesn't get food poisoning that her luck begins to change. Olive goes on her sister's honeymoon with her nemesis, Ethan Thomas, who is also the brother of Ami's new husband, Dane.
