Summary

As soon as Dane vomited on Ami, his unexpected illness seemed to mysteriously travel throughout the reception hall. Before long, all of the guests are suddenly unwell, except for Ethan and Olive. Ethan is slightly smug when he says to Olive, "So I was right about buffets and bacteria" (36). When Olive objects based upon the rapid speed of the illness, Ethan replies, "I bet you this is ciguatera toxin" (37). Rather than spend more time with Ethan, Olive leaves him to go carry her sister back to her suite. While dragging Ami to the room, Olive feels the back of her dress rip wide open.

It is later revealed that Ethan's predictions about the ciguatera end up being accurate. Ciguatera is explained to be caused by eating fish that is contaminated with certain toxins. Even the caterer could not have prevented this as it does...
