Summary

Apollo and Meg enter a massive football field where they see a full crowd of demigods, blemmyae, germani, and centaurs. Numerous beasts are chained to posts, and Commodus sits in a box surrounded by human mercenaries. However, he welcomes Apollo directly, who worries that Meg may have betrayed him again. However, she says that something is there, even if she is not certain what. Commodus says he will destroy the Waystation, and then kill Apollo, as he heard of his victory through the cave’s prophecies. Everything comes to life in the stadium including gladiators fighting the animals and formula race cars. Meg and Apollo are saved from battle ostriches by basketballs that fall from a net above them. Apollo uses ammonia to kill wolf-headed warriors and rushes to an elephant. However, Commodus reveals that he has Meg’s karpo, Peaches, and wants to...
