Summary

In Chapter Twenty, Apollo and Meg go into Nero’s Tower. They take the elevator to the antechamber where they see Nero and 11 demigods. Lu is beside him, but her legs are encased in steel. Apollo does not believe Apollo would surrender to save the city, but he calls Meg a hero. Nero goes through his past including the day he had his mother executed and talking about all of the Christians he burned. He says that his bad acts made people love him. Apollo realizes that Meg would be the 12th child, just like there are 12 Olympians. Nero asks Lu why she betrayed him, guessing that she was the one who planned that they surrender. Nero has them seized and warns his children against betraying him. Nero guesses that Apollo is trying to distract him from the march of Camp Half-Blood...
