Summary

Chapter 14 – After a few more hours of harvesting, Jiichan says he’s too sick to continue. Summer radios Mick to tell him, and together they get Jiichan back to their motel and into bed. Mick goes back out to the field to continue work. Obaachan confesses to Summer that she feels guilty for not being able to help Jiichan more, and that she fears this will be the family’s last opportunity to work for the Parkers. Remembering her parents’ concerns about paying the mortgage, Summer realizes that she doesn’t have much choice: she has to go and run the combine herself.
