Summary

In Chapter 23, Mabel’s days became a mix of despair and work as she tried to care for Jack, the house and the horse. Her only hope was to get him well enough that they could travel back home. One day George came to check on Jack. He brought with him Mason jars of moonshine. She told him as soon as Jack was better they would be leaving.
