Summary

Robin begins to believe in Strike's theory of the case in Chapter 46. Although the two of them obtained significant information from Kathryn and Pippa, they are still no closer to getting Leonora released from prison. Neither Dave or Robin have come up with the physical evidence Strike needs to liberate Leonora. Then in the evening Dave calls to say he has the goods and Strike calls Robin, reminding her not to take any chances while performing her task. Strike spends a sleepless night waiting. When Robin arrives at the office the next afternoon, she announces that she, too, has now accomplished her mission. Strike rushes to call Anstis to report that he now has tangible evidence of Leonora's innocence, but Anstis is unwilling to consider any alternative explanation as to what happened.
