Summary

After their fight, Bex does not see Nick again for months. She regrets picking the fight, but also feels it was inevitable. Bex cries, “This whole country feels like Nick to me,” (228), and so Lacey encourages Bex to return to the United States. Back in Iowa, Nancy and Earl have upgraded to a larger home. On her first day back, Bex sees Nick and Gemma in the tabloids, and realizes she did not think she would be forced to see such things in the U.S. Even people from her hometown recognize Bex from her place in the tabloids. Over Skype, Freddie encourages Bex and tells her Nick is not doing great emotionally, either. Three days before Christmas, Nancy and Earl intervene and tell Bex she needs to move on with her life.
