Summary

The Royal We is a novel told in the first-person, narrated by its protagonist, Bex Porter. The novel opens with a short prologue, which takes place in present day. In the prologue, Bex is readying for her wedding to Nick. She is panicked about the global coverage surrounding her marriage, but also because of the mysterious texts and calls that are piling up. Her mother, Nancy, calls and their conversation reveals that Bex and her twin sister, Lacey, are fighting. Suddenly, Lacey bursts into the room and proclaims she “did something" (4).

Chapter One of Part One: This section moves back in time to summer of 2007, and opens with Bex arriving in England and starting her semester abroad at Oxford. She arrives at her new dormitory, Pembroke House, completely disheveled. Nick answers the door and helps her with her...
