Mikey

Michael “Mikey” Mitchell is a high school senior and is the primary narrator and the protagonist of the novel. Mikey is the younger brother of Mel and older brother of Meredith, and is the son of Alice. Mikey is also the best friend of Jared, and has a crush on Henna. Mikey is a very kind but very unhappy teen who is not looking forward to graduating because it means his friends will all move away. Mikey believes his love for Henna will go unrequited and he does not believe his life has any meaning. Mikey, through the course of the novel, tries to help the indie kids out in their fight against the Immortals to give himself purpose, but he is never able to actually help either because he is told not to or does not know how to.
