The modern-day story in The Redbreast takes place in Oslo, Norway. The story begins with a security detail that has been organized for the visit of the President of the United States and other world leaders to Oslo.

The Eastern Front

The second story takes place over fifty years before during World War II. Most of the action takes place in the trenches of the Eastern Front. The Norwegian soldiers are engaged in trench warfare with the mission of fighting off Russian soldiers who are invading and occupying their nation.

The Palace Gardens

The old Nazi who is bent on assassination rents a room in the Radisson Hotel in the Palace Gardens. It will give him a straight shot at the Crown Prince when he steps out on the balcony to greet the people on Liberation Day.
