Summary

Master Caleb lives in Barrow, the district surrounding Asteri or the Shining City. He is the first magician in a generation and like the wizards of days gone by, he has an apprentice named Wolf. He has an extra hand for menial chores named Oscar, who Wolf calls Mouse when Master Caleb isn’t around. Oscar lives below Caleb’s shop in the cellar. Several cats live there as well, but they usually hide when Wolf comes around.

Wolf comes down to the cellar and asks Oscar for some raspberry leaf for a Shiner. Oscar tells Wolf they don’t have any but Oscar quickly mixes verbena and passionflower and takes it up to the kitchen.
