Summary

“Theory of Mind” is related from the first person perspective of Harriet. Harriet has been dating Martin for nearly three years now. Martin met Harriet when she approached him at his party celebrating his first book. Harriet was his copy editor, and she wanted to meet the man who wrote such an interesting book. The two were shocked to meet one another in person and they began dating immediately. They are settled in their relationship and this makes Harriet feel restless. Martin is a very dedicated cognitive archaeologist who is currently studying something called “Theory of Mind.” This theory poses the question of whether human ancestors had the cognitive ability for empathy and an understanding of how and what other people think.
