Fang Runin (Rin)

Rin is the main protagonist in "The Poppy War" and the novel is written to follow her journey as a warrior in the Imperial Militia. Rin is a war orphan who was reluctantly taken in by a family called the Fangs. When she was old enough, the made her run their shop where they conducted most of their opium smuggling. Rin did not want the Fangs to marry her off to an old merchant so she devises a plan to blackmail her adoptive family and a tutor in order to do well on a test that will allow her to leave the village.
