Segren Farm

The Segren family’s farm is located in a rural area of indistinct setting. The characters’ names seem to imply that the story takes place either in Scandinavia or in a Scandinavian settlement in North America. Regardless, the area is highly susceptible to blizzards and other hazardous snow conditions in the winter. Hans finds the Pedersen boy in a snow bank on the farm and brings him to the house to revive him.

The Road
