Chapter 16-18 Summary

Chapter sixteen begins with Elijah waking up to see Daneel. Daneel explains that they are still in Gladia Delmarre's home and that she has been put under house arrest. Daneel explains that when he arrived, Elijah was fainting. Behind him was a pond that Elijah would have drowned in and Gladia was making no motion to save him. Daneel is certain that Gladia was trying to kill Elijah but Elijah does not believe this. Daneel then explains that Dr. Thool, the one that came when Gladia fainted and her husband had been killed, is the biological father of Gladia, although Gladia doesn't know it. Daneel states that it is his belief that Dr. Thool moved the murder weapon to save his offspring. Elijah then asks for a hand and Daneel looks at him funny.
