Chapters 26-30 Summary

The office door opens to reveal Raina and Gabriel. Robert, the club manager follows, begging Jean-Claude's forgiveness for letting them pass. Kaspar follows behind them, obviously unhappy about being with them. Anita tells Jean-Claude to leave Robert alone, even though she does not like him. Jean-Claude expresses surprise but lets the matter drop for the moment. Raina kisses the master vampire and drapes herself across his shoulders. Jean-Claude seems stiff and formal at first but then relaxes into her. Raina goads Anita, expressing surprise that Blake would care who Jean-Claude would allow near him. The shapeshifter accuses Anita of being jealous, but Anita denies it. All those in the room can smell her lies. Gabriel approaches Anita, and she asks if his silver ear rings hurt.
