Chapters 6-10 Summary

As Anita leaves the theater she notices a woman standing in the middle of the sidewalk. Small, blond and beautiful, the woman stares at Blake, obviously trying to intimidate her. Blake realizes that the woman is a vampire, and when the woman tries to control her thinking, Blake realizes that the vampire is approximately 200 years old. Anita pulls out her Browning, her favored gun, but is seen by a police officer and ordered to lower her weapon. The vampire who says her name is Gretchen uses her powers to control the officer's mind. Gretchen wants Anita to leave Jean-Claude alone.
