Summary

The Lotterys are prevented from going to the Powwow to visit Baba, one of their other grandfathers, because of Grumps' health. Grumps also initially refuses a trip to the beach, but when MaxiMum asks if the heat is hindering him, he becomes defensive and agrees to go. He bikes rapidly, using PapaDum's bike since PapaDum had decided to stay behind. At the beach, Grumps encourages Brian to stop using her flotation device, telling her that when he was young children learned to swim by being thrown in the water. Brian demanded to be let out of her flotation device, and to the shock of all of the parents she began swimming after several tries. Grumps swam deep into the lake, and the family lost sight of him. Sumac tells PopCorn and MaxiMum more about ancient Sumerian while Catalpa naps, tired from her job walking...
