Summary

Sumac wakes up the next morning and hears CardaMom giving thanks to nature outside. She remembers the scrapbook incident from the previous night and feels guilty. She crawls into PapaDum and PopCorn's bed along with Oak and Brian: Aspen joins them. Sumac asks to go to the beach, but the adults must spend the day with Grumps. Instead, Sumac goes outside and participates in “citizen science” (Location 719) by examining a square meter of milkweed to determine the best conditions for monarch butterflies to grow. She then goes to the garden, where CardaMom is weeding with Oak. Oak eats dirt, so CardaMom takes him to his playhouse. PapaDum is bringing snacks out to the garden when Aspen screams that the older siblings have returned from Camp Jagged Falls, where all of the children twelve and older in the family go for an annual two-week wilderness...
