Mickey Mouse Watch

Langdon wears a Mickey Mouse watch that was a gift from his parents on his ninth birthday. He looks at this watch at various times through the evening and lets the reader know how the evening is progressing. The action of the novel takes place within a time frame of about twelve hours. When the guard at the Capitol Building comments on Langdon’s youthful looking watch, Langdon comments that he wore it as a sign that he needed to slow down and enjoy life.

Peter’s Hand

Peter’s right hand was severed from his body and staked so that it would stand straight in the form of the Hand of the Mysteries. Langdon recognizes this Hand of the Mysteries and tells Sato that it was presented as an invitation to acquire sacred knowledge. This hand appears in the novel in Chapter 10.
