Professor Robert Langdon must race against time to decode the secrets of the Masonic Pyramid and save his friend Peter Solomon in the novel The Lost Symbol, by Dan Brown. Langdon did not know that along with the life of his friend, the reputation of the centuries old establishment of the Masons and the reputation of powerful leaders in Washington were in danger from a madman, who was bent on becoming an evil deity. The novel deals with the question of whether knowledge is intrinsically good or evil, as well as the way both language and symbols can be used to either mask a message or clarify it.
