Summary

The funeral continues in Chapter 29, and the neighbors converse with the family members inside the house. Nathan, who has no interest in mingling with the guests, finds himself alone in the office looking at the calendar. He scans through the book reading the seemingly normal entries from the past months, and notices that every day there is a checkmark with a time written beside it. He realizes that it is the family recording his message from the satellite tracker that Harry made him check in with every day. Ilse comes into the office and tells him that Bub was baiting dingoes around the same time that Nathan's dog died - Nathan had claimed it came from a poisoning but he could never prove it.
