Summary

Part Three is titled Out of the Egg. Chapter 23 opens in the hatchery. Tsunami is in complete darkness in the hatchery. She can see in the dark but her vision is blurry. She has been through the room, searching for an alternative opening. She has even moved the statue of Orca but cannot find a secret entrance. She can see the dragonet moving inside the egg, indicating it is about to hatch. She assures the egg she will protect her, then hears a scraping noise. She believes the statue has moved, then becomes certain of that. Tsunami cannot really hurt the statue but she gouges out the jewels that serve as eyes. The statue is winning their fight until Tsunami manages to lodge a spear into the statue's mouth. She uses another spear to trap the statue and picks up the egg just...
