Summary

Chapter 19 is titled “The Endless Way.” Alec hates doing something without a complete plan, but instinct drove this action. He is surprised that the wound does not hurt or bleed. The wound on Alec, Magnus, and Shinyun all glow. A “rope of magic” connects Shinyun to Sammael. Alec calls the power of the thorn, separating the red magic from Magnus's blue magic, freeing it so it flies above them. Sammael laughs, saying he likes “an unexpected turn” (334). Sammael sends Shinyun to retrieve the orb of magic. Shinyun is upset, cites the “gift” Magnus refused, and their connection through their “actual father” (apparently referring to Lucifer). Sammael says the “unresolved stuff” between Shinyun and Magnus is irrelevant. Sammael makes it clear he did not seek out Magnus, not even through his connection to Ragnor.
