Vengeance

Many of the characters in this story are on a quest for Vengeance. Indeed, if it were not for the vengeful quests of these character, there would be no story. Some of these individuals are lucky and give up their Vengeance. Nico is angry that his father, Hades, hides the truth about his family from him. His anger at his father leads him to dangerously summon the dead spirit of his mother. He eventually sees her death, and understands his father's hatred of the other gods. Hades seethes in rage over the murder of his mortal lover, who is also Nico's mother. He curses the Oracle for foretelling the event, and abandons Zeus and the other Olympians for the murder, content to allow Kronos to destroy them.
